Why are there no Arabs in high-tech?
is an article in the Israeli Haaretz site by Eynav Ben-Yehuda. It discuses some reasons why Arabs in Palestine-48 do not particpate in the Israeli Hi-Tech where most of the world wide new technologies developed and most of the international large Hi-Tech firms exist.
The article discusses the education system the Arabs have and their motivations to work in that field. More comments and feedbacks to teh article has discussed more issues such as racism.
The article that can be found at Haaretz site worth the reading because it shows some issues common to all Arab world beside the specific issues faces the Arabs in Palestine-48
As a final notice, many of the software translations to Arabic language are done in Israel by Arab engineers and programmers or Jews from Arabic origin. This may lead us to another question, why do not Arabs translate the international software by themselves in the Arab world or develop their own software? not to mention the translation of free open source software.
Comments to the Article and the discussed issues can be posted to Handasa Arabia Forum

This article presents the concept of the technological gap that exists between our world and the advanced world. Our world in the article is meant not only for the Arab world but also for all societies that are developing themselves to catch with the development and technological arena in the developed world. It is a trial to investigate the multiple, diverse, and complex parameters that are the driving factors for the widening of this gap. It seems like the extension of this gap width is much more growing than the efforts to bridge that gap. This view would be inferred from the community that are experiencing the hi-tech work as professionals in this addressed communities and it would not be recognized by the public who are just noting advancement in technology. This advancement that is seen by the public has its reasons like the mis-defined concept of technology. The article addressed how to start real effective bridging of the gap and what is the most important factor that would lead to this technological gap bridging.
